Finding your voice

I read a good article by Lisa Shearin in The Writer magazine that talks about finding your voice and staying true to it.

I had wondered what was meant about finding your voice and it took me awhile to find mine. For some reason, I kept writing in this writer’s box, that didn’t allow me to explore myself. I felt like I had to adhere to so many writing rules.

Then I re-read a few of my writing books and started to get the idea. I also re-wrote a few of my stories and when my true voice came out, the work was so much better.

As Lisa Shearin says, “Being different can mean being published.” I know I write different so let’s see where it takes me.
